| Abstract | The paper describes the chemical composition and the physical, mechanical and biological properties of a siloxane-modified composite (Ormocer) developed as a substitute for amalgam. The clinical procedures using the adhesive technique and a one-step bonding system are presented. Ormocer has greater abrasion resistance and about 50 per cent smaller polymerisation shrinkage than composites based on diphenol-glycidyl-dimethacrylate. These qualities make Ormocer a higly promising material. | |
