Abstrakt		The paper presents life-threatening conditions resulting from thoracic trauma that require immediate recognition and therapy. The author lists conditions may have an immediate life-threatening potential and those that may be fatal if not diagnosed in time. It stresses clinical picture and signs that enable the attending clinician to identify the type of injury and institute proper treatment without time-consuming diagnostic workout. The author gives guidelines for emergency procedures done within the framework of emergency pre-hospital management.
