Abstract     The changes in paediatric life support according to the new guidelines published in Resuscitation and Circulation in the year 2000 are presented. The changes in basic life support for infants and children are as follows: determining cardiac arrest by means of the pulse eheck, indications for starting chest compressions, technique for chest compressions in the under one year old, compression and ventilation ratio for over eight year olds, "phone first" for children with known heart disease, foreign body obstruction sequence for lay providers in the unconscious infant or child. The changes in advanced life support for infants and children are as follows: use of bagmask ventilation vs (aryngeal mask vs endotracheal intubation confirmation of tracheal tube placement, circulatory access, second epinephrine dose, anti-arrhythmic drugs,: use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in children over the age of eight years (25 kgs or over). The full versions of some algorithms for paediatric basic and advanced life support are presented.
