Abstrakt     Emission monitoring from industrial and combustion processes comprehends various classical methods of qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis of gaseous pollutants. The common drawbacks of classical methods are: a) limited selectivity, b) indirect analysis with previous discontinuous sampling procedures, c) limited range of quantification. Fourier Transformed Infra-Red (FTIR) spectroscopy is a promising method for direct qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis of the gaseous sample, extracted from waste gas duct, from some chemical process or from workplace environment. Broad spectra of inorganic or organic compounds could be analysed simultaneously in gaseous phase, at temperatures over the boiling temperature of water or most of organic solvents. Detection and confident quantification limits for individual compounds are in ppm to vol.% range. Analysis is performed in real time and in the place of the sampling.
