Abstract     Because of the importance of perceiving movement accurately in order to react properly in our everyday life, motion perception has been studied extensively. Different corners of the cognitive neuroscience pyramid contributed to our knowledge about this mental ability: cognitive psychology, various computational models, neurophysiological and neuroanatomical findings, and neuropsychology. The paper reviews the contribution of these approaches. Somestudies on velocity discrimination are presented to illustrate the basic characteristics of each approach.
