Abstract		The aim of the paper is to present the meta-analysis of the content and method of some of the research studies of nurses in Slovenia between 1980 and 2000. The authors analysed the thesis produced at Ljubljana and Maribor University, which focused at nurses as persons or professional group and not their work. The results are organised in a table showing the authors, the issue date, the institution where the research was performed, the title, the aim of the research study, the method, the population, the sample and its realization and main findings. The amount of the research increased after the year 1996, the most used is the survey method, samples are mainly small, and the findings in some topics converge, but in others not. The findings about the content and methodology of the research studies performed in the past could be useful for planning of the future research.
