Abstract		Alcoholism is a multi-layered sociopathological entity. Treatment of the addiction and its numerous medical complications represents the "medical layer". Factors to prevent or sanction the unwanted alcohol-related behavior and to reduce the intake of alcohol constitute the "non-medical layer". In between lies the interdisciplinary layer, consisting of cooperation, sharing of relevant information, and incorporation of the proven facts into governmental alcohol policy.
Summary		Alkoholizem je obsežen socialno patološki pojav in je večplasten. Medicinska plast je zdravljenje odvisnosti in njenih številnih medicinskih zapletov, nemedicinska plast pa so tisti dejavniki, ki preprečujejo in sankcionirajo tiste vedenjske motnje, ki so posledica uživanja alkoholnih pijač, in zmanjšujejo porabo alkoholnih pijač. Med tema dvema plastema je interdisciplinarna plast, ki obsega sodelovanje strok, pretok informacij ter vključevanje dokazanih dejstev v operativno državno alkoholno politiko.
