Abstract     Acute pain is one of the most frequent reasons the patients seek urgent medical attention. Pain relief is often insufficient due to the doctors' underestimating of pain and fear of the side effects of the drugs as well as to poor communication between the doctor and the patient. Pain is subjective experience therefore relieving pain varies from patient to patient. We start with recommended dosages which are then titrated to desired effect. We can relieve pain with analgesics but to banish it we must find and cure the cause of pain. Treatment of pain requires multidisciplinary approach.
