Abstrakt     This paper examines the relationship between childhood maltreatment, recent adversities and suicide attempts. The Childhood Experiences of Care Abuse interview and the Life Events and Difficulties Schedule were conducted on 47 suicide attempters. Sexual abuse significantly discriminated between repeaters and non-repeaters when the childhood experiences of neglect, physical abuse and parental antipathy had been controlled for. Negative life events was also significantly associated with repetition while long-lasting severe difficulties showed no such association after controlling for child adversities. A structural model that examines direct, indirect and co-varying relations is needed in order to understand the more complex processes that leads to repeated suicidal behaviour.
