Abstract     Rehabilitation goals after osteoporotic fracture are to return each patient to the premorbid level of mobility and selfcare, teach the exercises, reduce the risk of falls and new fractures and discharge the patient to a safe environment. The focus is on assessing and curing medical disturbances, recommending home environment changes and medical treating of osteoporosis. These problems of secondary prevention are discussed by analysing patients referred to the Rehabilitation Institute in Ljubljana in year 2000 to receive rehabilitation after hip fracture. The need for physiotherapy and occupational therapy at patients' homes is suggested.
