Abstrakt		Family planning and number of children are under influence of numerous factors: economical, social and psychological. Individual value orientations could be important among psychological factors connected with the number of children. The present study is aimed therefore to investigate the relationship between value orientations and the number of children of individual person. The results showed that the importance ratings of different values and value categories correlate with the number of children of subjects. More specifically, the individuals with greater number of children have more expressed orientations toward moral and potency values (religious, traditional, patriotic, security and status values in particular), while the individuals with low number of children or without children inclined more toward hedonic and sensual values.
Izvleček		.Na načrtovanje družine in na število otrok vplivajo številni dejavniki, ekonomski, socialni in psihološki. Med pomembnimi psihološkimi dejavniki, ki se lahko povezujejo s številom otrok, so tudi vrednotne usmeritve. Namen pričujoče študije je raziskati odnos med vrednotnimi usmeritvami posameznikov in številom otrok. Izsledki raziskave so pokazali, da so ocene pomembnosti vrednot in vrednotnih kategorij povezane s številom otrok, ki jih ima posamezna oseba. Z večjim številom otrok se povezujejo predvsem moralne, pa tudi potenčne vrednote (med vrednotnirni kategorijami srednjega obsega zlasti verske, tradicionalne, patriotske, varnostne in statusne vrednote), medtem ko se pri osebah brez otrok in osebah z manjšim številom otrok bolj izražajo hedonske in čutne vrednote.
