Abstract     The paper presents and compares two methods for the quantitative description of the particle spatial distribution, namely the linear covariance and the Voronoi tessellation method. First, model structures were analysed using these methods. It was shown that the particle spatial distribution and the quantitative parameters are clearly interrelated. Then three real material structures of various types were analysed and analogies to the model structures were indicated. Several parameters describing quantitatively the particle spatial distribution in the real structures examined were detennined.
