Abstract     Motor control over process of speech production improves due to the neuromuscular maturation. Longer duration and especially greater variability in speech production of stutterers can be due to the malfunction and/or restricted capacity on the level of motor programs. The purpose of this investigation was to establish a level of variability in speech of the stuttering children and a correlation beiween temporal characteristics of speech and an items of stuttering severity instrument (Riley, 1972). The results confirmed the assumption that there is a positive correlation between the items of instruments and the temporal variability in speech production.
