Abstract		The case of a female patient with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease who was been smoking for many years is presented. Due to poor cooperation and her continued smoking, the disease progressed. In case of acute respiratory distress, the patient needed endotracheal intubation and tracheostomy, which resulted in additional complications.
