Abstract     Assessment of rehabilitation assistive technology (AT) is a complex process that requires detailed exploration of various aspects of efficacy and use of a technical aid. The article first discusses various aspects that contribute to the overall outcome assessment of particular AT. It further describes two instruments developed for the outcome assessment of AT. The first instrument is IPPA (Individually Prioritised Problem Assessment), which evaluates only those aspects and/or activities that were recognized by each user of particularAT as the most important for carrying out activities of daily living. The second instrument is QUEST (Quebec User Evaluation of Satisfaction with Assistive Technology), which evaluates AT from the aspect of user satisfaction with technical characteristics and service provision. AT needs to be evaluated a/so solely from the viewpoint of its technical characteristics that determine the scope of potential user population. As an example, electrically driven wheelchairs were analyzed.
