Abstract		In every industrial society the health and social, protection of the worker during the time of his illness is part of the health safety. Sickness absence in Slovenia has been increasing in the last years. The authors examined the influence of some factors on sickness absence, in the years 1971-1973, in two factories in Nova Gorica Meblo and Iskra. In the three examined years from 1971 to 1973 1,965 examined persons were 8,512 times on sick leave what means that every person was in the three years 4.3 times on sick leave. So these workers were 96,336 days or 49 days each on sick leave in the three examined years. They found that the number of women on sick leave exceeded that of men, and the number of young people exceeded that of older ones.
