Abstract     Restoration of normal circulation is the main goal and at the same time the priority task of basic and advance life support. Ventricular fibrillation is the main cause of sudden cardiac arrest. Since defibrillation is essential for survival, spreading use of automatic external defibrillators (beside basic life support) to nonmedical staff have raised the number of surviving patients with sudden cardiac arrest. Many emergency unions and organisations have accepted this principle as a common concept in supplying a life threatened patient. I have described a case of successful use of an automatic external defibrillator in practice. This is the first evidence case of its successful use in Slovenia. Because the use is very simple, safe and effective, working with this apparatus should be a part of education in many schools, especially those which educate working with many people.
