Abstrakt     Heart failure is increaslngty common and associated with high morbidity and troubling mortality, The search for alternative heart failure treatments has led to the development of left ventricular assist device (LVAD) technologies for mechanical circulatory support (MCS). Clinical trials, including the recent REMATCH trial, have confirmed the safety and effectiveness of LVADs in patients with end-stage heart failure. LVADs in particular and MCS devices in general have great potential as bridge-to-recovery, bridgc-totransplantation, and destinution therapy.
