Abstrakt     Alohtonic animal species, like tortoises, lizards and snakes are in recent years more frequently imported in Slovenia. New environment and improper food are common stress factors to which these animals are exposed and this may lead to higher incidence of diseases. Some species of captured alohtonic animals have been studied by different diagnostic methods for the presence of different infectious and parasitic diseases. Some of the studied diseases have zoonotic potential. Salmonella were found by bacteriological examination in different species of tortoises, lizards and snakes. Antibodies against leptospirosis were found in examined in different species of water tortoises. Cryptosporidia and Trichomonas sp. were found by parasitological investigations in monitor lizards. Infection with Oxyuris sp. were found in land tortoises. The results of present investigation suggests that captured alohtonic animals could play significant role in transmission of some infections to humans. Uncontrolled releases of alohtonic animals could also lead to outbreaks of some diseases in autohtonic animal species.
