Abstrakt     Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) is a very succesfull and less invasive diagnostic method than endoscopic retrograde holangiopancreatography (ERCP) in diagnosing choledocholithiasis. Pathologic changes in acute biliary pancreatitis diminish the visualisation of the bile ducts, so the results of endosonography in diagnosing choledocholithisasis in patients without pancreatitis can not be simply transferred to the patients with acute inflammation of the gland. The first results are promising, but further studies are required.
