Abstrakt		In Slovenia a portable fall detector as a telecare solutions have been introduced aiming at helping old, disabled and chronically sick people to remain in their living environment. The detector works with a carephone as a stand-alone solution or as a part of a growing "help at a distance" Lifeline telecare network. In the article a general model of a fall detection by Doughty and coworkersl is discussed. Activities related to the fall detection implementation plans in Slovenia are discussed. It is expected that broader implementation of the fall detector in Slovenia would indirectly lower medical treatment and rehabilitation costs being consequences of serious falls.
