Abstrakt     Parapharyngeal space (PPS) tumors are usually presented as asymptomatic masses, and lesions often grow to considerable size before symptoms occur. Diagnostic possibilities are limited when conventional ultrasound is used. We examined six patients with tumors in the PPS with the intraoral ultrasound transducer and evaluated the size, the margins, the structure and vascularity of the tumor, as well as its relation to other structures. Intraoral ultrasound can be applied very well in differentiating a medially displaced tonsil due to a tumor from a unilaterally enlarged tonsil due to inflammation. Vascular tumors such as glomus can be shown clearly on color Doppler.
