Abstrakt     Introduction: Prospective study was undertaken to explore efficiency of early rehabilitation and to determine frequency and severity of motor and neuropsychological impairments in patients after surgery for aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH). Materials and Methods: The sample consisted of 53 adult patients. The prospective database included all relevant clinical data, condition on admission according to Hunt-Hess scale. Functional status was assessed using the Functional Independence Measure (FIM), and cognitive status by means of the mini mental state examination (MMSE). Results: The mean total FIM score for all tested patients was at discharge 86.7, mean length of rehabilitation (LOR) 21 days and efficiency 1.96. The mean total FIM score for patients with Hunt-Hess grade >= 3, was at discharge 63.6, LOR 30 days and efficiency of rehabilitation 0.99. Patients with severe cognitive impairments according to MMSE had at discharge mean total FIM score 58.9, LOR 23 days and efficiency of 1.12. Conclusion: Higher Hunt and Hess grades at admission and severe cognitive impairments are associated with poorer functional outcome, longer hospitalisation, lower efficiency of rehabilitation.
