Abstrakt     The paper discuss the survey of harmonized slovenian legislation on food safety and actual modernization of the basic food safety legislation in European Union. The general principes and requirements of food law (REGULATION (EC) No. 178/2002 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL laying down the general principles and requirements of food law, establishing the European Food Safety Authority and laying down procedures in matters of food safety), the new GMO regulations on food and feed and the proposal regulations on food hygene, official food control and nutritional and health claims are presented. The regulations in European Union shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States, including from the 1st of May Slovenia too.
