Abstrakt     We tested the hypothesis that in children with unilateral cleft lip and palate there is a correlation between resting posture of the oral cavity and development of facial skeleton. For this reason, we determined oral posture and analysed lateral cephalograms of 28 consecutive UCLP children treated with presurgical orthopaedics and equal surgical protocol. According to the oral posture, the original group was divided into a subgroup where children had proper oral posture (21 children), and subgroup with improper posture (7 children). In the subgroup with proper posture, normal sagittal intermaxillary relationship was found in 9 children and distal in 12. In the subgroup with improper posture, three children had normal, two distal and two mesial intermaxillary relationship. Angles SNA and ANB are statistically greater in ehildren with proper posture.
