Abstrakt		There has been a drastic decrease in the number of free living hares in Croatia during the last few decades. Several nonspecific, mostly anthropogenic factors, as well as some etiologically specific diseases have been recognized as responsible for that process. The European Brown Hare Syndrome (EBHS), the disease described in this article, is certainly one of the most devastating diseases among the free-living hare population. Considering the epizootiological situation in Croatia monitored during four consecutive years and studying a large number of hare carcasses it is possible to assess the occurrence of the EBHS in the country. Several aspects of the potential pathogenesis of observed lesions are discussed
