Abstrakt     The increased frequency of air-travel and therefore also health problems on board demand a bigger attention from the medical authorities. The physiology of flying is determined by specific conditions on board. Internatuinal regulations demand adequate qualificationsof cabin crew and standardized first aid and medical equipment on board. The only reliable source of information about medical incidents on board are the medical reports filled outon standardized form by cabin crew members. Considering the number of air travellers, the prevalence of medical emergencies on board is still relatively low. The most frequently reported medical problems on board are nausea, unconsciousness, chest pain and hyperventilation. Inside the regulations, individual airlines can further adapt and complete the rules considering the equipment on board and the medical training in accordance with specificity of their oprations. This article brings a retospective analysisof a 36-month period, in which 71 medical medical emergencies on board werereported on board Slovene national air-carrier. Considering the circumstances on board and according to the available data, air travel is relatively safe. Nevertheless, careful medical preparation for the flight and a preventive consultation with onece physician can prevent several health problems during the flight.
