Abstrakt     In the past ten years, 92 injuries of tarsal and metatarsal bones were treated. 58 (63%) were treated conservatively and 34 (37%) operatively. After termination of conservative treatment, mobility was good in 33 (56.9%), sufficient in 17 (29.3%) and poor in 8 (13.8%) patients. After operative treatment the result was good m 26 (76.4%), sufficient in 5 (14.7%) and poor in 3 (8.9%). cases. The-two methods of treatment are not competitive; they complement-each other: The evaluation of the severity of tissue damage plays a decisive part in indicating the choice of the method of treatment. The period of time elapsing between the injury and the beginning of treatment also plays a major part, for it should not exceed six hours.
