Abstrakt     Stroke is important cause of death and leading cause of disability among adult people. Impairment and disability after stroke make global changes in quality of life for patient and the people coming in closer contact with such a person. An effective rehabilitation at a proper time is a prerequisite for an optimal functional outcome. The rehabilitation after stroke is long lasting and expensive, but suboptimal rehabilitation is even more expensive. The primary wish of everyone is to be independent. In spa, specialised for neurological rehabilitation, patient is send for 2-3 weeks. In this short time we try to achieve as much independence in activities of daily living (ADL) and mobility as we can. At the end of rehabilitation 73% patients achieve 61 or more points at Extended Barthel Index (EBI), which we chose for measurement of patient's progress. EBI is quite sensitive, reliable, easy to use and measure all activities in our interest. Patients with such a score can return to the domestic environment, because they do not need a lot of help in ADL from people around them. We established more progress with patients arrived directly from hospitals and staying in rehabilitation for 3 weeks.
