Abstrakt		A pilot project of helicopter urgent medical assistance (UMA) started in Slovenia last year. This project is intended to support the ground UMA teams across Slovenia when they need it. It is our intention to highlight some of the aspects of helicopter UMA, starting from its activation at the Brnik Airport to its departure from the accident area. Safety procedures for the ground UMA teams are particularly emphasised. In addition, the information important for the helicopter crew that needs to be reported is listed. Ground navigation of the helicopter crew, selection of an appropriate landing place, security of the landing place and collaboration with the police and fire departments are described.
