Abstrakt		INTRODUCTION: Traumatic head injury is the most common cause of death or disability in childhood. For children with minor head trauma there are no accurate guidelines therefore the reason for the admittance to hospital is the history of unconsciousness. PURPOSE: To find out the necessity of hospitalisation of children with the history of unconsciousness. STUDY TYPE: case studies INJURED: From the year 2000 to 2003, 42 children were admitted on the surgical ward in the general hospital Ptuj because of the history of unconsciousness (average age 13 years) with minor head injury. RESULTS: The median of staying in hospital is 2 days. All patients were x-rayed, all findings were normal. CT scans were performed on 4 (9,5%) patients, all CT scans findings were normai. All children were discharged from hospital with no neurological symptoms. CONCLUSION: Hospitalization and diagnostic tests did not appear necessary. Need for admission would decrease if proper algorithms were made for treatment of injured with minor head trauma.
