Abstrakt | Introduction. Chest pain is a frequent reason patients come to the emergency department (ED) and is a leading symptom of both acute myocardial infarction and acute myopericarditis. Case presentation. I report a case of a 31-year-old woman who came to the ED because of chest pain. She did not have known risk factors for isheamic heart disease and her clinical status was normal but the electrocardiogram revealed ST segment elevations in I, II, aVL and V 5-6 leads. Dueto acute coronary syndrom with ST segment elevations the patient received MONA therapy and was admited to the intensive care unit (ICU) where an urgent coronary angiography was performed. Coronary arteries were normal. Due to the course of the disease and following examinations the diagnosis of AMP was made and the patient was treated accordingly. Conclusions. Patient's history, clinical status and laboratory findings in AMP can be deceivingly similar to AMI. It is important to distinguish between the two diseases for appropriate treatment and prognosis of the patient. | |
