Abstrakt		This review discusses interactions in the complex microbial population and explains some views on communication within the population of medically important microbes. Interactions between various microbes can help them survive in an unfavourable environment, but the influence of microbial interactions can also be negative. Some bacterial and fungal excretion products exert an inhibitory action on other microbes. Investigation of these interactions can be useful for finding alternative antimicrobial agents. This is of great importance in regard to antimicrobial activity and treatment of infectious diseases.
Izvleček		Pregledni članek obravnava interakcije v zapleteni mikrobni združbi in razlaga nekatere vidike komuniciranja, kakor tudi interakcije med različnimi medicinsko pomembnimi bakterijami. Mikrobi lahko pozitivno vplivajo drug na drugega in s tem sodelovanjem uspešno premagujejo neugodne razmere v določenem okolju. Vpliv interakcij je lahko tudi negativen, saj številne bakterije in glive s svojimi produkti zavirajo rast ali celo uničijo drugo mikrobno celico. Preučevanje teh vplivov je lahko velikega pomena pri iskanju novih alternativnih snovi proti mikrobom za zdravljenje bolezni, ki jih povzročajo.
