Abstrakt | In the samples of the mm. pectoralis thoracicus and supracoracoideus of ten domestic hens, one year old, histochemical and stereological investigations of the valume surface and numeric areal density of some types of fibers and volume ratio of muscles and conneotive bissue were determined. The results obtained show that all fibers in the m. pectoralis thoracicus are mainly fast contractive-glycolitic, but only a small number of them are oxidative-glycolitic. M. supracoracoideus shows a similar morphometric structure. In m. pectoralis thoracicus and m. supracaracoideus samples of birds (pigeon, pheasant, hen) the influence of function and gravity an the participation of connective muscle elements in the mentioned muscles were investigated. Volume participation of muscle and connective tissue in both muscles were determined stereologically on cryostat sections 10 micro m thick. The results obtained point to the high participation of muscle tissue, but low participation of connective tissue. Significant differences in connective tissue participation were seen in the investigated muscles. A bovine herpesvirus 1 (BHV 1) has been isolated in cell line AUBEK at an outbreak of acute respiratory disease in two herds of feedlot cattle. The isolate has been identified by virus-neutralisation and immunofluorescence test. | |
