Abstrakt     The author has developed and applied the method of measuring the occlusion surface of the teeth with the intention to attain more complete understanding and an adequate treatement of the stomatological and gastro-enterological patients. He tested the statistic correlation between the size of the occlusion surface and the frequency of the outbreak of the gastro-enterological diseases. According to the results it is possible to measure the occlusion surface by applying the quasiplanimetric method by Eisman and Hofinan and the instrument Summagraphic. The occlusion surface was measured on 114 gastro-enterological patients (Gastritis Chr. 40, Ulcus Vetriculi 3G and Ulcus Duodeni 38) an on 40 patients of the stomatologic surgery vvho were treated as the control group. The sample of 154 persons was taken out of the population of the nort-east Slovenia. With the statistie analysis of the collected data, the following conclusions were made: - on avarage, the control group has an occlusion surface tvhich is twice as big as the one of the ill; - the differences between the avarage values of the occlusion surface of the teeth of both groups are characteristic; - a multiple analysis of the influences of the characteristics of the patients on the size of the occlusion surface shows that: - there is a positive correlation between the group in which the patients belong, and the occlusion surface that was measured for this group. On avarage, the patients of the control group have a larger occlusion surface as the ill ones, and - there is a negative correlation between the age of the patients and the occlusion surface of the patients. Beacause of the dynamic changes on the occlusion surfaces, the author recommends a more fequent measuring of the occlusion surface. Modern, computer steered instruments make this possible. A reduction of the occlusion surface would be stated by that and one could act preventivly against the possible gastro-intestinal diseases.
