Abstrakt | Backgrounds: Breastfeeding is optimal way of nutrition for infants. In spite of promoting and surveillance of breastfeeding, it is not always succesfull. In case when breastfeeding is not adequate or is not possible, an additional milk formula is needed. In the article the autors describe 33 full-term, otherwise healthy exclusivelly brestfed infants, with normal gestation weight and height, who were hospitalised in Gastroenterological department of Pediatric clinic Clinical centre in Ljubljana because of failure to thrive. The autors introduce the dietary intervention for therapy. Preliminary results and conclusions are shown. Conclusions: It will be necessary to introduce more strictly surveillance of children's thriving and growing after birth. It is also needed to say in public about the problems of inadequate breastfeeding in spite of fear that saying something negative about breastfeeding will threaten the succesfull breaslfeeding campaign. | |
