Abstrakt | The most commonly used laboratory animals belong to the animal order of rodents. Above all mice and rats are, because of their small size and exceptional reproductive capacity, the most frequently used laboratory animals in aplicative as well as in basic science. The extensive knowledge of the mouse genome has made the manipulation of the mouse genom a very useful tool for recognition of genes known to be associated with human disease states. In order to interpret correctly the results of experiments with laboratory animals it is important that the studied biological system is well defined, so that its similarities to, and differences from the human system can be appreciated. The focus of this review is the biological system of hemostasis and its comparison with human system. Additionaly, a special attention was payed on the correct selection of animal species for preclinical studies of novel antithrombotics. | |
Izvleček | Živali, ki jih najpogosteje uporabljamo v laboratoriju, pripadajo živalskemu redu glodalcev. Predvsem miši in podgane se zaradi majhnosti in izredmh reprodukcijskih sposobnosti najpogosteje uporabljajo tako v uporabnih kot tudi v temeljnih raziskovalnih dejavnostih. S povečanim znanjem o mišjem genomu je omogočena tudi manipulacija mišjega genoma in s tem genov, ki so povezani z razvojem bolezni pri človeku. Pri uporabi laboratorijskih živali je zaradi pravilne razlage rezultatov pomembno, da natančno opišemo proučevani biološki sistem, s čimer lahko določimo podobnosti in razlike s pripadajočim človeškim biološkim sistemom. V prispevku smo se osredotočili na biološki sistem hemostaze pri glodalcih in na njegovo podobnost s sistemom Posebno pozornost smo posvetili tudi pravilni izbiri živalske vrste za predklinične raziskave novih antitrombotikov. | |
