Abstrakt     According to the results of researches that have been done in Slovenia since 1999, caries decreased. The reason for this is besides the systematic preventive dentist program also the fact that a lot of primary schools had its own dentist surgeries. Besides the causes which directly entail caries we have to take into account the originators with indirect influence (e.g. organization of dentistry and professional doctrine). Deficiency of our legislation from an aspect of the children dental protection is best reflected by the fact that the active (clinic) dental protection of children is no longer practised at the primary level, and implementation of the preventive programmes is left to caring individuals. With the person who is not defined or is defined with another doctor we can carry out only the collective and not individual preventive programs. Children, who have to visit the dentist outside their home town or village are diminished of individual preventive care in full extent. In our research we have discovered that there is the connection between the accessibility of the dentist and the oral health of children. The difference was discovered belween the children who had the dentist surgery in their school and the children who did not have it. In our research we have used the data we were collecting on annual systematic examinations of children between 6 and 14 years attending primary schools of Dolenjske Toplice and Vavta vas. We were taking notes of the dental status, oral hygiene, appearance of dental calculus, health of periodontal tissues and orthodontic anomalies. (Abstract truncated at 2000 characters).
