Abstrakt     Backgraund: Low back pain is very often reason for visiting family physician. It is a complex syndrome close linked with Iife-styfe, psychical and social influences. Low back pain is linked with depression, which is cause or consequence. In my research I have tray to determine type of patient with low back pain, and depression prevalence at patients with Iow back pain. My presumption was: "Low back pain prevalence is higher at middle age woman, which work for 20 or 30 years in forced position with recurring movement. Depression prevalence in this group is higher as at average patient. Methods: I have coliect patient's data from January 2004 to Jun 2004. In my research I have include hundred patients, who visit my surgery for different reasons, but in the past they have low back pain. I have collect following data: age, gender, work type, education, lumbosacral spinal X-ray, specialist investigation, disabiiity commission, body mass index, smoking, depression. In similar way I have process hundred patients without low back pain. I compare both groups. Results: Among patients with low back pain there are 59% women, the most frequent age group is 41-60 years old. 56% women with low back pain in this age group, which work in forced position, have depression. Among all patients with low back pain have depression 45%, 38,9% with recidiv acute pain, 48,4% with chronic pain. In forced position work 61% with low back pain but only 22% have hard work. 68% patients with low back pain are overweight (BMI > 25). 22% are smokers. Lumbosacral spinal X-ray has 72% patients with low back pain, and 81,3% patient with chronic pain. Specialist investigations have 70% patients with low back pain; among them 71% have orthopaedic investigation. Disability commission evaluated 51% patients with law back pain, among them are 37% in III disability category. (Abstract truncated at 2000 characters).
