Abstrakt		We sought to determine the long term results of 42 consecutive patients who underwenr an anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction with an autogenous patellar tendon graft frorn 1985 through 1989. These patients were evaluated for meniscal damage and osteoarthritic changes at the time of surgery and followed prospectively. Objective physical examination data were obtained at a mean of 12 years postoperatively. According to the International Knee Documentation Committee evaluation criteria, patient's knees are rated as normal 69%, near-normal 26.2%, abnormal 4.8%, or severely abnormal 0%. Patients underwent radiographic evaluation which included anteroposterior and lateral weightbearing views. Radiographic evaluation was graded as normal, moderate arthrosis and severe arthrosis. 42.8% of the patients had normal menisci, the ramaining 57.2% of the patients required meniscectomy. 66.6% of the patient's knees remained normal on radiographs at the time of evaluation (50% of the patients had a partial meniscectomy), and 33.4% of the patient's knees were rated as abnormal radiographically (71.4% of the patients had a partial meniscectomy).
