Abstrakt     Rehabilitation procedures after chondral repair in the knee must adequately pxotect the transplanted tissue. Since there are no explicit guidelines available, we have proposed a protocol for knee rehabilitation after arthroscopical tissue harvesting and after open repair procedures: autologous chondrocyte transplantation and mosaic plasty. Rehabilitation after arthroscopy indudes early mobilization and full weighr-bearing with intensive isomerric quadriceps exercises from the day of the procedure, flexion exercises from day 1 and cryotherapy during the First couple of days. Special care is taken to prevent extension lag or development of flexion contracture. In addition, after autologous chondrocyte transplantation and mosaic plasty, partial weigbt-bearing on crutches is required for 10-12 weeks and 6-8 weeks, respectively. Electrical muscle stimulation is not used routinely, but may play a role after repair procedures.
