Abstrakt		Three supplements were implemented in the second year of validity of the 4th Edition of the European Pharmacopoeia. The implementation of the last three supplements is expected for the year 2004. The 5th Edition of the European Pharmacopoeia will be implemented on 1st of January 2005. The European Directorate for the Ouality of Medicines (EDOM) has continued with the activities which began a couple of years ago, among these we should mention the Certification of suitability, the activities concerning the pharmaceutical terminology with the new edition of Standard Terms, and the development of a new chapter (Control of Impurities) which will contribute to the unique approach to the classification and qualification of impurities in the European Pharmacopoeia monographs.
