Abstrakt     In the past few years, endoscopic operations on the spinal column have developed from representing exceptional interventions to becoming standard procedures in spinal surgery Operating techniques and instruments have been designed for endoscopic approaches to the thoracolumbar spine, making it possible to perform safe endoscopic surgery This development was aided by the scarcely satisfactory results of purely dorsal treatment concepfs. It was the high access morbidity of the conventional open procedure which limited the indication for open interventions to cases showing marked destruction and dislocation in the anterior section of the spine. Endoscopic procedures based on the reduced access morbidify provide a solution, so that today nearly all operations in spinal traumatology can be performed endoscopically. In this paper we present the endoscopic technique for anterior spodylodesis of the thoracic and lumbar spine we have been performing in our traumatology department since 2003 and discuss the indications, advantages and disadvantages of this procedure.
