Abstrakt		In the treatment of cervical cancer, the irradiation applied in the majority of cervical cancer patients is one of the foremost treatment modalities. With the latest technology, the radiation beam can be most precisely focused to the tumor region in order to allow that only the area that needs to be irradiated is actually exposed to irradiation. A number of recently performed multicenter research studies most clearly define the role of irradiation in the treatment of cervical cancer and recognize chemoradiotherapy as the standard treatment modality. Further advances of treatment by irradiation depend on more accurate disease staging, better quality of irradiation and new radiosensitizing agents.
