Abstrakt		In our institution ambulatory surgery has allready been practised for 10 years. Our predominant occupation is proctology, representing the majority of the programme. Free capacities in OP department are used for hernia repair. For the selection of patients well known criteria for day surgery are used, i.e. preparation for operating procedure, anaesthesia and surgery itself. In the last five years in our institution were performed 602 tension free sutureless groin hernia repairs, 25 patients with PHS prosthesis and 26 patients with umbilical or epigastric hernias. In this article the principles of day surgery hospital are discussed, focused on operations of groin hernias and post-operative follow up in ambulatory surgery.
