Abstrakt     This article is designed to provide the reader with the basic understanding of the psychological and neuropsychological aspects of the experience of pain, especially of chronic pain. While acute pain is meaningful, telling us to stop what we're doing to avoid further harm and seek attention for the injury, chronic pain syndrome develops as a patient pursues medicat intervention with little success, leading to frustration and a sense of despair, hopelessness and worthlessness. Not only the emotional experience and autonomic reactions of chronic pain patients, but also the role of psychological pain management as a part of multidisciplinary treatment is represented. It bases on a biopsychosocial model, involves evaluation across multiple systems, requiring flexibility of theoretical perspective. The clinical semi-structured interview has the central position, as the resource of psychological assessment and also in psychotherapeutically processes.
