Abstrakt     Emergency medical dispatch service, like any other dispatch service, from accessibility point of view can be organized like primary, secondary and mixed public service answering point (PSAP). For accessibility methods to emergency medical dispatch is valid that they have good and bad properties. 63% of accounted countries of European Union have implemented mixed PSAP because when they established single European emergency call number 112 they, in compliance with European Union directives, preserved old systems for emergency notifications. Inside that group, there are only two countries with identical emergency notification system to the system implemented in Slovenia. Seven accounted counties have implemented secondary PSAP. At the end of year 1996 we terminated medical emergency notification number 94 and implemented single European emergency call number 112. Until 31.12.2000 we had in parallel usage also a 94 medical emergency notification number. Formally speaking we can conclude that the used accessibility method for emergency medical dispatch in Slovenia is comparable with methods used in other European Union countries and in compliance with European Union directives. Apparently good state of medical emergency notification system hides huge problems in the area of call taking, field crew communications and consequently also a problems with patient treatment in the field.
