Abstrakt     Contact surfaces between the abutment teeth and a partial removable denture, as well as nearby denture surfaces are routinely reshaped by grinding. Ground surfaces are rougher, more reactive, and promote plaque accumulation. Dental or denture plaque is a major etiological factor for most of diseases in the oral cavity. The majority of procedures used in daily clinical practice are insufficiently effective in polishing and protecting ground dental enamel or denture acrylic. The aim of this in vitro experimental work was to evaluate different techniques used for polishing ground dental enamel and denture acrylic, and, in the first place, to provide arguments for a new approach to the protection of ground enamel surfaces with thin plastic coatings. In the first part, we investigated whether thin plastic adhesive coatings on the ground enamel surface can reduce surface roughness and hinder erosive and cariogenic activity of acids, and what was the role played by fluoride ions in the plastic coating in this process. We also evaluated the polishing effect of different polishing systems for composites and dental ceramics used for polishing dental enamel. Micromorphological characteristics of different plastic coatings were determined. The degree of mineralization of intact, ground and coated enamel samples after exposure to de- and remineralization solutions was determined by the Knoop hardness test. Quantitative analysis of elements Ca, P, C1, On, Mg and javascript: window.parent.izberi besedo2(9, 30) F in de- and demineralized areas of enamel samples was carried out with the scanning electron microscope (SEM). Surface roughness and morphology on intact, ground, polished and coated enamel surfaces were explored with the contact profilometric method and SEM. (Abstract truncated at 2000 characters)
