Abstrakt		Topical corticosteroids are frequently used in dermatology for the treatment of eczematoid, erythematosquamous and some bullous dermatoses. The choice of the topical corticosteroids depends on several factors like the type of dermatosis and its localisation, spreadness as well as the age of the treated patient. We recommend creams for acute diseases and ointments for chronical ones. Lotions are preferred for the scalp treatment. Systemic corticosteroid treatment for dermatologic diseases in childhood is limited to some rare autoimmune bullous diseases and large hemangiomas and must be individually adjusted. While treating the children with topical corticosteroids we should be aware of the serious adverse effects.
Izvleček		Številne kožne bolezni v dermatologiji zdravimo z lokalnimi kortikosteroidnimi pripravki, ki so indicirani za ekcematoidne, eritematoskvamozne in nekatere lokalizirane oblike buloznih dermatoz. Izbira vrste, jakosti in načina dajanja lokalnega pripravka je odvisna od dermatoze, lokalizacije in razširjenosti sprememb ter predvsem starosti bolnika. Akutne oblike zdravimo s kremami, pri kroničnih pa uporabljamo mazila. Poraščene dele telesa zdravimo z geli ali losioni. Zdravljenje otrok s sistemskimi kortikosteroidi v dermatologiji je omejeno le na nekatere redke generalizirane, predvsem avtoimune bulozne dermatoze in obsežne hemangiome. Zdravljenje prilagodimo individualno posameznemu bolniku. Pri uporabi kortikosteroidov za lokalno uporabo se moramo pri otrocih ves čas zavedati vseh možnih neželenih stranskih učinkov.
