Abstrakt		GIST of gastrointestinal tract are rare and constitute only 1% of all Gi malignant tumours. In 50-60% of cases GIST are found in stomach, yet only 1-3% of them are malignant. Diagnostic procedures (gastroscopy, endo-US, CT, imunohistochemistry) help to perform radical operative procedure. Pharmacotherapy with tyrosine kinase inhibitor imatinib mesylate (Glivec) enables surgery in patients with liver and peritoneal cavity metastases.
